Bed Bugs Pest Control
How To Know If You Have Bed Bugs?
We have started to see more and more bed bug infestations and it is partly due to more people using short term accommodation options for holidays or while they are waiting for a rental property to become available.
There are some clear signs you have bed bugs and others which are less easy to identify.
- Reddish stains on bedsheets (from bed bugs being crushed)
- Bed bug shells
- Live bed bugs
- Distinct bed bug bites (raised bumps in zigzag form, pimple-like bump with a dark red centre, round clear fluid blisters, inflammation and itching at the site). Bed bugs bite all over but focus on arms, back, neck and legs.
Bed bugs are small oval shaped bugs that range in size and colour (usually cream/brown and 5mm long) that need to feed on blood to grow. They like to live in and around beding, mattress seams, suitcases, furniture, luggage and carpets.
Bed bugs are NOT easy to get rid of, but a thorough pest control treatment targeting bed bugs will. Results are seen instantly and will continue to be seen for up to 6 weeks after with remaining dead bed bugs being found.
There are also a few steps that will need to be taken after a pest control treatment to speed up the process and avoid recurrence.
If you’re tired of dealing with substandard and ineffective pest control services, look no further and get in touch with our friendly team today.

Step 1
Pest Control For Bed Bug
At any sign on bed begs do not spray or attempt any DIY processes as this will delay the accurate course of treatment. Do not strip your bed sheets or wash any of your items yet. Open all the windows in your home and close all doors where possible. Call So Pest Off and make your urgent booking.
Step 2
Bed Bug Treatment
So Pest Off will treat each room (whether impacted or not) to ensure that there is no left over infestation hiding in any crevices as they can also live in lounges. Each room will be sprayed with a very heavy chemical, including bed sheets, curtains, mattress, bed base, skirtings, carpets/floors, suitcases and clothes/hampers. Once a room is sprayed, your technician will strip the sheets and gather all the sprayed clothes in a rubbish bag tightly sealed. The door will be shut we will move to the next room. We recommend not entering any rooms for at least 6 – 8 hours, overnight if you can to ensure the chemical is not disturbed.
Step 3
Killing Bed Bugs
Once you return after the treatment, while wearing gloves you will need to open the bags of sealed content and wash one bag at a time on extreme heat, and then put the clothes through the dryer. If you can this is recommended to be done twice. It is recommended to not vacuum for up to 10 days after the treatment. After two weeks it is highly recommended to have a professional carpet/upholstery clean performer to remove any residual chemical and remove any dead bug shells.
Step 4
Ongoing Bed Bug Management
We recommend a full general pest control 6 – 8 weeks after the initial treatment to kill off any remaining bed bugs, and protect you and your home for all bugs and insects.
