Prevent Snakes Before You See Them

Snake proofing seals the entry points snakes use to get into your home, typically the roof, subfloor and doorways, and pairs that with rodent control to remove the food source drawing them in. So Pest Off handles the exclusion and monitoring side of snake problems in Sydney, and we can also fit snake proof fencing mesh for yards where snakes are getting in at ground level.

Snakes are a protected species in New South Wales, so our job is keeping them out, not catching or harming them. The gaps they use to get in are often smaller than people expect, which is why a proper inspection matters more than a quick look around the roofline.

Why snakes end up in your roof

Snakes turn up where there’s food and shelter. A roof or subfloor with a rodent problem is a food source, and a warm, dark cavity is good cover. Doorways with worn seals or gaps underneath offer an easy way in at ground level, and yards without a proper barrier give snakes free run of the property.

Deal with the rodents, seal the gaps and, where needed, fence the perimeter, and you take away every reason a snake has to stick around. It’s why snake proofing, rodent control and fencing tend to go together rather than being treated as separate jobs.

How snake proofing works

  • Inspection: we check the roof, subfloor, weep holes, doorways and yard perimeter for entry points.
  • Exclusion: we seal gaps, fit weep hole covers and close off the routes snakes are using to get in.
  • Rodent control: we address the food source, since a snake is usually following its prey rather than the property itself.
  • Snake proof fencing: for yards with ongoing ground-level activity, we can install mesh fencing that blocks snakes from entering at all.
  • Bluetooth monitoring: motion sensors let you confirm the space is staying clear, rather than just hoping it is.

Snake Proof Fencing Mesh

Snake proof fencing is a mesh barrier fitted along the base of an existing fence line or as standalone fencing, designed to stop snakes moving across a yard boundary. It’s a useful option for properties backing onto bushland, reserves or waterways, where snake activity tends to come from the yard rather than the roof.

Fitted properly, it closes off the ground-level entry point the same way sealing does for a roof or subfloor, and it works well alongside proofing work rather than as a stand-in for it.

Bluetooth motion sensors for peace of mind

After proofing a roof or subfloor, the hardest part is knowing whether anything is still in there. We can fit Bluetooth motion sensors that alert you to movement, so you get real confirmation the space is clear rather than just hoping it is. It is a simple way to take the worry out of a snake problem.

This is the second time we have used So Off Pest, and I have been happy every time. A great service is obviously important, but all of the interaction that I have with this team in the lead up is also excellent. The communication from the team when booking, all the way to the service technician when they are on site. I cannot praise them enough. Thank you so much!

I recently used So Pest Off for a very serious ant problem in my car (don’t even get me started it was thousands and thousands of ants). Firstly, Eileen was extremely helpful on the phone, explaining step by step what would happen, she then was able to fit me in asap. Secondly, Shant and his teammate were great. They explained to me what they were going to do and were very thorough. I believe Shant said ‘this was the worse ant problem he has seen in a car’ but he did not back down. You could tell he was passionate and actually wanted to help me, not just because he was getting paid to do so, a genuine care to help me fix this problem. It was a layered approach in the us VS the ants but we came out victorious (I say we, it was all So Pest Off). I’m so glad I called this company, they will forever be my number 1 go to for any future pest problems (hopefully no more ants in cars though). 5 stars doesn’t capture how grateful I am and how much I recommend them. Thank you so much, from a very sincere, and ant free, customer.

I cannot recommend So Pest Off highly enough! I recently reached out via their website to enquire about a maggot issue in my apartment. Within just 30 minutes of submitting my quote query, I received a phone call from Eileen. Instead of simply booking a job and taking my money, Eileen took the time to assess the situation and honestly informed me that the issue was actually a strata matter rather than an individual apartment problem. The fact that she went above and beyond to save me unnecessary costs and provided a clear next step toward a solution was invaluable. It is rare to find such integrity and genuine care in customer service these days. They have definitely gained a lifelong fan here. 100% excellent service!

We recently had a full pest treatment completed through Pest Off and are so impressed with their service. I found them via Google and texted to ask for a quote. Eileen was so easy to deal with - she replied promptly, politely and explained everything well. The whole thing was explained and booked via text - I didn't even have to get on a call (IYKYK 😂)! Aaron arrived exactly on time and was the perfect service provider. He explained the process and took his time to do a thorough job. I didnt once feel he was in a rush to get things "over and done with". He even took his shoes off coming into the house!!! Aaron was so helpful and proactive (without being pushy) that I've already booked in for Pest Off to help with birds nesting under our solar panels. Will happily use for our regular pest treatments moving forward and highly recommend to others for their pest management. Thanks, guys!

Recently had a termite inspection with So Pest Off. From the first phone call with Eileen to the inspection with Shant, the whole process was so easy. Shant was thorough, and explained everything he was doing as he went and was happy to answer my many questions regarding termites, with his extensive knowledge. And Eileen is also very knowledgeable and was so lovely over the phone when booking my inspection. I would not hesitate to recommend So Pest Off to anyone and will definitely use them again in the future.

The installation Process

We follow set methods when tackling difficult to eradicate pests.

1

Quote

Simply give us a call and we’ll discuss your property, answer any questions and provide an obligation-free quote. Whether you prefer to receive your quote over the phone or by text message, we’re happy to communicate in the way that’s most convenient for you.

2

Full house PROTECTION

Once you’re ready to proceed, we’ll attend your property and professionally install weep hole covers, seal suitable external entry points, and secure vulnerable areas around air conditioning pipes, ducting and other common access points. Our goal is to create a strong barrier that helps prevent snakes from entering your home while maintaining the appearance and functionality of your property.

3

EXTRA PREVENTION

For properties in high rodent activity areas, tamper-proof rodent bait stations may be recommended as an optional extra. Since snakes are typically following a rodent food source, reducing rodent numbers around the property adds a layer of protection on top of the sealing work, lowering the chance snakes are drawn to the area to begin with. These secure, lockable boxes are positioned strategically around the exterior for effectiveness, while remaining safe for children and pets when professionally installed and maintained.

Snakes are protected in NSW

All snakes are protected native animals in New South Wales and are managed under NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service guidelines. Live snake catching and relocation must be done by a licensed reptile handler. Our role is proofing and monitoring, and where a snake needs to be caught and moved, we make sure it is handled by the right licensed person.

Book Snake Proofing

Call 0410 244 244 for a snake proofing inspection. We’ll find where snakes are getting in, whether that’s the roof, subfloor, a doorway or the yard, seal it up, and set up monitoring so you know the space stays clear.

Snake Proofing FAQ’s

Live snake removal has to be done by a licensed reptile handler, and we make sure that’s arranged. Our own work is proofing the home and monitoring it so the snake doesn’t get back in once the space is clear.

Usually through weep holes, gaps in the eaves, broken tiles, gaps under doorways, or where pipes enter the wall. They’re chasing rodents and shelter, so sealing those gaps and removing the food source is what keeps them out.

Yes, when it’s fitted correctly along the ground line with no gaps underneath. It stops snakes crossing a yard boundary at ground level, which is a different entry point to the roof or subfloor, so it’s often used alongside proofing rather than instead of it.

They detect movement in a space like a roof or subfloor and alert you, so you get confirmation the area is clear after proofing rather than guessing
